Presidents Run Scone 2,3 & 4 Nov 2024

A REPORT on the Presidents Run to Scone NSW

Second to 4th November 2024

Saturday morning saw favourable weather and 12 fine Mercedes with 25 members and partners head west up the Golden Highway to Denman for our first stop and the mandatory coffee. Then on to the Hunter Belle Cheese factory in Muswellbrook for lunch. After lunch we drove the short distance to Scone where we enjoyed a guided tour of the Scone Historical Society Museum, then booked into our accommodation we met for happy hour followed by dinner at the Scone RSL.

Sunday was highlighted by our visit to the ‘War Birds’ Aviation Museum at Scone where our guide K.B. (a virtual encyclopaedia of aircraft) walked us through every facet of the museum. After lunch with the temperature creeping into the low 30’s we drove the 10klms to Middlebrook Station where the owners Susanne and Alan hosted a great afternoon tea. All thanks to the organisation of our own club member Brian who also gathered together local car club members with their cars for a meet and greet. Sunday night saw a revisit to the RSL where most of the world problems were solved over dinner.

Continued fine weather and a late start on Monday saw everyone arrive at the morning briefing “bright eyed and bushy tailed” for the grand finale, a visit to Vinery Stud in Aberdeen. After all what’s a weekend in the Horse Capital of the Hunter Valley without a visit to a horse stud. Our host at Vinery Stud provided an exceptional guided tour where we also learned some new words for our vocabulary. Following our visit we travelled the short distance to the Commercial Hotel in Aberdeen. After a hearty lunch to top a fabulous three day adventure, we bid farewell to our fellow travellers and headed home.
